The problem with maintaining a strategy that requires you to move on every time you are a) ignored by more than three members of staff in an almost empty shop or b) treated like a moron, is that eventually you will run out of mobile phone shops in Chiswick.
Also: a 'video flyer' for 7 Seconds of Love Saturday 7th October at the Borderline. Lots of young people having fun. But don't let that put you off.

James, I've caught freshers flu so I don't think i'll be able to come. I don't want to infect you all, and more to the point, I can't get out of bed for more than 5 minutes without needing to lie down again. Damn university tis a infection breeding ground!
It was Patrick's astonishing ugliness that put you off wasn't it? I've been working with him for years, so I've got sort of used to it.
Also, get better soon, obviously.
Well I didn't like to mention it...
Ta James, we'll do a meetup when I'm better yeah?
Shall I post the balloon to patch?
I'm sure Patch will be fine going one night without a balloon, and there will be another blog meetup thing soon which will be well advertised.
I had chicken pox at university, it was a surprisingly medieval experience.
The older you get chicken pox the worse it is. I had it at 16 and was covered (inside and out) in horrible scabby blisters. Sorry if I've put you off your dinner. See you Saturday.
Hehe yes I'm sure she'll survive! (was jesting about posting it)
Staccie- yes it's horrid! I've been eating really healthily as well so I'm really annoyed that I still got it!
No ballon? Nooooo!
This video flyer will cheer me up though...
*relaxes*
I have a great idea, a meet up in Manchester!!
ahem sorry, I am only 15 and can't get too far afield...parents and suchlike.
I'll be quiet now.
Hope you're better soon Kalista
James--you should try breaking something. Not like "i'm an angry man and i'm breaking your shop" but like..."oops, I've dropped your most expensive phone." I bet they'll pay attention then.
James, I was planning on coming to the meetup with Jools, but I can't get a babysitter. I could tie them up outside the pub like the old men do with their dogs, but I don't think social services would look too kindly upon that somehow.
I hate it when sales assistants ignore me just 'cos I am a teenager and they think I have no money. I mean, yeah, I have no money, but can't they just pretend they don't know that for a minute?
THEN AGAIN, I also hate it when I enter a store and at every step there is someone smiling brightly at me and going "HIIIIIIIII THERE CAN I HELP YOU???!!! *ohmygodiloveyousomuchforcominginhere*"
I guess I am just hard to please.
Hey James,
Were you finally going to get a shiny new phone??
Knowing the trouble you've had getting this far, please let me suggest the following:
a) Go to the mobile phone shop on a monday morning, no one else will be there and you can get the attention you deserve.
or
b) Shop on the internet. Go to the shops, loiter, play with phones etc, find the one you want, then return empowered to the keyboard, where you can choose a phone and a deal at considerably better value than in the shop anyway.
(PS. If you still want a phone that does email, get a smart phone with T-Mobile web'n'walk, it costs an extra £7.50 a month for all the internet access you can eat on top of your normal contract charge, but believe me, it'll save you enough money to contribute to the eradication of third world debt.)

(PPS. And I don't even work for T-Mobile, honest!)

Hmm, I wrote a longer comment, which Blogger seems to have swallowed, but the gist was: thanks A, useful stuff.
James we turned up at the Borderline on Saturday but you had all gone.
....Very disappointing.
Indeed, profound apologies - we'd all done a runner by half-ten. Ah, the vibrant hectic lifestyle of the nation's capital...
Just spotted a reference to your relationship in the Guardian media section by the way.
Yes, Patch and I are quite the Posh and Becks of the mediarati, fwah fwah.
Not saying which is which though.
I meant 'bloggerati', 'mediarati' is just a silly, made-up phrase.
