What Ori said...

Green Wing is up for the British Comedy people's choice award, which is decided by the public phoning in and voting. If you like Green Wing and have a spare 5 seconds, call 0901 723 02 02 and press 7.

Or text GREEN to 86633.

Green Wing Tactical Voting Team.....

(say it with me)

...ASSEMBLE!

We want that prize. Mainly because we dropped the last one and broke it*. Also, when the GW bunch win anything, they tend to pull down backdrops and fall over and generally give even more entertainment for your comedy pound.

* This bit might disappear later on.

Go, GW, go!

I've been trying to call the number from the States, but I keep getting a busy signal -- which I believe you Brits refer to as "getting a busy signal."

Or what we Brits refer to as 'shit technology'. Thanks for trying though. Are 'Max and Paddy' fans going to this much trouble? I bet they amn't.

Hmmm, if it doesnt work from the US, will it work from Australia? For it is the British Comedy Awards, mebbe they only want Brits to vote. Well I am British and will have my vote damnit! Am off to call my friend at 5am UK time to tell her to vote for me...

Do you think she'll mind being woken up, it is for a good cause..?

That should read "vote for Green Wing for me". At the moment it reads like I should be nominated for the award. Which I should really. I did some excellent work doing a comedy fall down a flight of stairs and had some even more excellent comedy bruises accross my a**s.

Which I'm not sure you needed to know...

I did it! Twice! Doesnt sound like the competition is too fierce, to be honest. Who's really going to vote for Ant and Dec?

James Henry said...

Don't think so - it's more of a natural law that when more than five GWers are assembled, Chaos Will Result.

Thanks to everyone who's voting.

Voted. I have to say, the rest of the options really are quite shit, aren't they? I thought they might enter some other quite good programmes. I mean, Ant and Dec, for God's sake.

Duly voted! I'll do anything for Green Wing me, like some hapless GW drone. Actually, I probably should've kept that to myself.

James, is the People's Choice Award the only one GW is up for? It was the same last year, and I was hoping that GW would get more recognition this year in some of the other categories.

Going back to the posting of mundane and slightly pointless comments; that made me laugh a lot because it's exactly the kind of thing I do - just add some friendly and inoffensive remark and then when I go back to a thread later I always think, 'Argh! Why did I post that? It's so lame!'

I will of course think the same of this post tomorrow.

No I won't, I'll probably wait a few weeks then post the same flippin' thing again like I did last time with the Sigur Ros epiphany.

It'll be like Groundhog Day but in stupid comment form.

That's enough now.

Lucy.

It's the only one as far as I know - I think the timing's wrong for any of the 'proper' ones. Should be eligible all over again next year though, by which time GW will bestrides the televisual schedules like a whimsical, long-armed dancing colussus.

Thanks again for voting people, but remember: keep enought money back for food.

'Proper' awards - Tamsin is up for best actress, although the words Green Wing/Love Soup appear in brackets after her name.

James Henry said...

At least in our one they actually met at the end.

And I never liked One Foot In the Grave.

I've gone too far.

Anonymous said...

Au contraire mon ami, you have not gone far enough! I never liked One Foot in the Grave either and Love Soup was pants - Tamsin Greig was the only reason I even attempted to persevere with it. I predict a win for GW as the people strike a blow for comedy which doesn't rely on repeating the same old catchpahrases every week (for recent examples see Spoons and Man Stroke Woman).

Oh, I've voted, by the way.

Catchphrases even!

word verification: earsjs - I will say it only wance (comedy French will cease forthwith!)

spoons was v. funny for the first week. then i started to wonder who commissioned a series that was the same sketches every week but in a different order and with the characters in different clothes. it made little britain look like seinfeld.

I just voted from work. This is good because it is free. It will be bad in a months time if they randomly pick that call to listen back to and mark how well I handled it!

I bet it was Julian R-T who broke it. He looked like he'd had a skinful and a half on the night and he cradled it in his arms in most of the photos I've seen.

Meh. I want to vote. But not as much as I actually want to see this show. Green Wing started in the UK the week that those charming Home Office types sent me back to the colonies (I can remember seeing the ads and thinking, "Damn.. I'll miss that"). Can't you use your no-doubt massive influence to ensure some righteous Australian network picks it up? Or have they done so already and I wasn't paying attention?
Maybe I'll vote anyway. Max and Paddy shit me to tears.

BiScUiTs said...

Excellent, I want to see more backdrops destroyed! I will not rest until there are none left on the entire planet. (At least until someone makes sore more)

BiScUiTs said...

*some* more. My fingers are too cold for typing.

irony in motion said...

Greta: I think it was shown on UKTV (if this is indeed a channel in Australia; if it's not, I have been misinformed/forgotten what it was). In fact, by amazing chance I think it's being repeated at the moment.

greta said...

Ah thanks. I don't have that channel....
Bumhole.

I'm trying from work & it won't let me type the last 2! Is that number right?
