The Cornish Zombie Movie: A Subgenre of One

Finally found the trailer for 1966 Hammer Horror movie: The Plague Of The Zombies, in which an evil squire forces undead locals to work in his tin mine. I have a feeling actually seeing it will only sully the perfection of its existence, but it does look pretty good, particularly the horseriding poshos WHO HUNT HUMAN QUARRY. Apparently this is EXACTLY what David Cameron was up to on his local holiday in Padstow, but it was all hushed up by the media.

i watched this a couple of weeks ago!

Its in the Hammer Collection box set which i picked up for a nifty £40 (RRP £150, i thought i did pretty well)

i did watch it between Rasputin the Mad Monk and The Reptile so they've all sort of blended into one, especially as The Reptile blatantly uses the same sets, but i seem to remember it was quite enjoyable in the usual Hammer, cheesey, low budget B-movie sort of way.

And it has Frazer from Dad's Army in it too.

i've also been to Padstow, many years ago. they had a good pasty shop there. and a good ice cream shop....unless it was the same shop that sold both....

A sub-genre of one, sure. But it's a great sub-genre.

"Hammer horror" & "Carry on", it's a blooming miracle we still have a thriving film industry in this country. It's the equivalent of trying to compete in the car market with Marina's, Allegro's and cars shaped like a wedge of cheese. Hang on a second what do you mean we don't have a British film industry or car industry. Oh well, at least we can still drink more and fall over more then any other nation........

I'm sure you've seen this, but just in case someone hasn't: Toward a Canonical List of Zombie Rhymes.

The one that made me giggle the most:

What is a zombie’s favorite musical?
FAAAAAAAAAAME

I was always trying to get zombies into Smack The Pony (well before Sean of the Dead), but the producer wouldn't let me.

Isn't that Kenneth Williams in the coffin that falls off the cart?
