Yes, the blog is a tad sparse at the moment, I know that, and I can barely sleep for worry, but I'm just trying to finish my book. Which I will be attempting to continue to write while I tart myself around the countryside like an great hoor for various meetings over the next couple of days, so if anything urgent comes up, I'm on mobile.
If you don't have my mobile, but are a highly respected film director who has picked up on the frankly understandable buzz surrounding m'scripts and wish to talk, go to steinplays.com. Gilliam would be good, I hear he's on a tightrope at the moment, projectswise. Spielberg, Lucas, no. Either of the Scotts - always. You know that. George Armitage? You'd be great for my superhero thing. I'm willing to invest in you. Call me.
Apropos of nothing, that 'Goal' thing has the wonderful wonderful aura of something that's going to fail like a huge stinky thing. A three film trilogy about football? Directed by Danny Cannon? It's going to be rubbish, isn't it? So no more weekend supplement stories about it while my back's turned, mmkay? Ta.
In the meantime, here's a great article about the US religious right that gives you even more reasons to be scared than before (huzzah), but also even more reasons to find people who are seriously considering going on an Alpha course and slapping them until they recover (huzzah). It's all the same thing. I'm sorry, but it is.*
Here are some boxes
And some lesbian pulp fiction cover art.
*A bit random, I know, but I saw a poster for the Alpha course today and it made me want to curl my hands into manly fists and shout and shout and shout and shout.**

Alpha course - deeply scary. But thankfully, I believe, rather passé nowadays.
Is it just me, or is that Joan Collins on the cover of This Bed We Made?
i think it is...
and oh good, something else for me to worry about.
we're all toast.
As an antidote to the shrieking, google out Douglas Adams's speech on the Kakapo.
Spooky. I was writing about the ads for the Alpha course when I decided to stretch my legs in the blogosphere.
And Gilliam is always the thinking writer's director-bitch. Munchausen and Brazil are faves. Have you seen Lost in La Mancha by any chance? Must ask patroclus that too as it has Johnny D in it.
Go hoor, young man.
...strange image now of James cavorting around the autumnal English countryside in a miniskirt and fishnets, while typing furiously (typewriter suspended around neck in accordion fashion, possibly) and shrieking angrily into mobile phone.
Erm, I've not seen Lost in La Mancha. Sigh, so much of the Depp oeuvre has passed me by, probably while I was pausing the bath scenes in "From Hell". Hm.
Did anyone else find Johnny attractive in Edward Scissorhands or was it just me?
Oh god, it was just me...
....
I can't watch that film, it gives me awful, terrible nightmares.
i liked it. mind you, it's about the only film i've seen that hasn't given me awful, terrible nightmares. it's usually childrens' films that do it, which is a worry in itself.
did i get that apostrophe right?
Surley knows I pursue her round the blogsphere like a terrible dark pursuer. So I just thought I'd point out that there are 5 apostrophes in her comment. The first 4 are perfect. The final one is
I can't spell Surly, or finish sentences
Favourite meet the new neighbours moment #3: "...and you must come along to the Alpha course we're running..."
(#67: "Don't I recognise you from the cover of 'This bed of ours'?)
i must apologise to everyone for inadvertently leading dave here. he's a bit like that uncle that embarrasses you at the family party you were allowed to bring a friend from school to by dancing inappropriately and eating all the birthday cake.
and i don't even know him in the real world. wherever that is.
I have to say this, I'm afraid; I saw this and thought of you...

Oh my God - that is *so* Snow Crash.
Blimey, that's fantastic.
I've checked, and Moosey, Lillette and Tmara the dwarf paladin (current fave character) are all fine. Phew.
lillette?!
see http://jamesandthebluecat.blogspot.com/2005/06/quite-lot-to-do-actually.html
exactly my point. so why did you name one of your characters after a tampon?
you'd think i'd have something better to do, wouldn't you.
We've been here before. The tampon brand is spelt Lil-Lets. But Accantia have paid James squillions for a product placement deal to 'normalise' the name to men, via this little ploy, so that they will feel comfortable buying them for their womenfolk at Asda. And that is true.
i see. and i thank you.
carry on.
*Cough* - I meant:
Cello, you may inadvertently have unleashed a whole new advertising mechanism there. Or are you chaps on the case already with subtle in-MMORPG product placement?
Yes, men across the world look up to me as a role-model in all things, just as all women do with Kate Moss.
Sometimes Kate and I get together to discuss our respective awesome responsibilities. I missed the last get-together, which was a shame. Apparently it was a great party though.
Yes, yes, that's great, you and Kate Moss.... But the real issue is: what is this about the DVD not coming out till next year?
WTF, man?!?! Spill!
No idea. I have to regularly check the internet for info, just like everyone else, sadly...
If I get a proper release date though, I will post it.
